In 2004, we marked our third year of operation as the Lanark Highlands Pipes and Drums, formed, in conjunction with the Lanark Highlands Business and Tourism Association, to promote tourism within the Highlands area. Based out of Lanark Village, most of our concerts and parades are concentrated around this small Lanark County town. Since our inception we have recruited pipers and drummers who wanted an alternative way to be part of a pipe band, without the commitment of regular practices, long parades and, indeed, not having to play all that regularly. We have enough pipers and drummers, at this time, to allow the members the freedom to choose the concerts they can attend. This fits their busy lives which may prevent attendance at some of the events. All of our members are competent pipers or drummers in their own right - no beginners. Pipers play the standard pipe band tunes and the drummers, the Ontario Massed Band Society beatings. If you are interested in this approach, and would like to join us, please call Barrie Brennan at 613-267-4052 or send an e-mail to barrie_brennan@hotmail.com.
